Launch of the “Pour des adolescentes FORTES !” program

2 June 2026

On June 9, 2026, the “Pour des adolescentes FORTES !” (For POWERFUL teenage girl!) program will be officially launched! It aims to strengthen the collective action of feminist organizations and movements in Madagascar, the Comoros, Mauritius, Mayotte, and Réunion to address the challenges faced by adolescent girls in the Indian Ocean.

Led by a consortium of international organizations comprising ECPAT 360, Asmae – Association Sœur Emmanuelle, ASCOBEF, and IPPF, the program supports feminist civil society organizations in five regions of the Indian Ocean.

It will promote active citizenship among adolescent girls, their access to education and vocational training, respect for their sexual and reproductive health rights, and the fight against gender-based violence.

The program is based on a unique regional approach, placing adolescents at the center and fostering feminist cooperation through the sharing of experiences and collaboration among local organizations. It combines financial support with technical assistance to strengthen the impact of local initiatives. This approach aims to create collective, sustainable responses tailored to the realities of the Indian Ocean region.

The official launch of the program will take place on June 9, 2026, through an event bringing together partner organizations, institutional representatives, civil society organizations, and adolescent girls. This highlight will include a presentation of the program, an overview of the mapped organizations, and discussion sessions highlighting feminist cooperation—the true driving force behind the “For STRONG Adolescent Girls!” program.

In addition, the rest of the week will be devoted to workshops with adolescent girls and local organizations to jointly define the societal changes the program aims to contribute to. They will also be able to share their feedback on the various support options offered by “FORTES!”

PEACE 2 – Addressing the psychosocial needs of children affected by the crisis

PEACE 2 is a program dedicated to rebuilding the mental health and protecting children affected by war through psychosocial support and family assistance.

The project adopts a community-based approach by bringing services closer to affected communities.  In response to the emergency, interventions were expanded to several shelters without additional funding, thanks to the teams’ flexibility. Psychosocial support and parenting activities are conducted at home or directly in the shelters to reduce risks associated with travel. A strengthened referral system helps identify and support those most at risk.
